Joanie's House

For our 2008 fall event, we honored Burleson's hometown hero, Joanie Bradshaw. Even though she suffers from crippling rheumatoid arthritis, Joanie raised two daughters and works full-time at Living Water Day School as assistant to the director.

Corporate sponsors Sherwin Williams, Home Depot, Ben E. Keith, Lubys Cafeteria, Dreyers Ice Cream and Nestles Chocolate participated as well as local churches and numerous volunteers.

Joanie moved out of her house for two weeks in order for top to bottom renovations to be completed that also included preparations for her to live a self sufficient future.

Following the ribbon cutting, HFKW had an even bigger surprise for Ms. Joanie as we presented the deed to her house showing her mortgage paid in full!

A larger number of guests got to enjoy an afternoon celebration honoring single moms and their children. The outreach included a number of venues with free food, pony rides, vendor service sand activities for the entire family.
